Edie specializes in the “Health At Every Size” model of normal healthy eating.  Edie has been trained by Ellyn Satter and follows the competent eating philosophy. 

Edie Applegate is a registered licensed dietitian and faculty member of Ellyn Satter Institute. She is also a certified Diabetes Educator and credentialed to provide nutrition services for Early Intervention, special needs children aged 0-3. She retired after 32 years experience at Rockford Memorial Hospital and Rockford Clinic. There she helped many people improve nutritional intake, maintain enjoyable pleasurable eating and support dietary changes either for good health or as a part of managing medical problems such as diabetes, high cholesterol and gastrointestinal problems. There she initiated counseling for families who had concerns about their child’s eating and growth—was not gaining fast enough, gaining weight too fast, or were picky eaters. Since retirement, she is the sole proprietor of Down to Earth Dietetics. Major contracts have been with Head Start as a nutrition consultant and with Early Intervention. 
 
Edie is available for individual nutritional counseling, seminars, and workshops.
